Kelly Kordzik, Esq., Winstead, Sechrest & Minick. Chair, Intellectual Property/Technology Section and Nanotechnology Practice
President and member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Nanotechnology Initiative, a consortium of industry, universities, government and venture capitalists whose mission is to establish Texas as a world leader in the discoveries, development and commercialization of nanotechnology. Mr. Kordzik is in the legal practice of assisting clients in developing their nanotechnology intellectual capital, including procuring patent protection and enforcing patent portfolios in the areas of carbon nanotubes, nanocrystals, nanoparticles, and their practical uses in products. Mr. Kordzik has enabled clients to obtain some of the most important patents for the use of carbon nanotubes as field emitters. Mr. Kordzik is a member of several advisory boards for nanotechnology organizations and is a frequent speaker at nanotechnology conferences, both in the U.S. and abroad. He also is sought after by the press for his views on the nanotechnology revolution. Mr.Kordzik holds a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, an M.B.A. from the University of Houston and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University.

Katharine Green, Zyvex

Founding member and original Chief Operating Officer of the Texas Nanotechnology Initiative, also the chief organizer of two highly successful preceding nanotech conferences held in Richardson, NanoVentures 2002 and 2003. Ms. Green is Director of Corporate Communications at pioneering Zyvex Corporation, the first molecular nanotechnology company in the world, and located in Dallas, Texas. Zyvex was founded by James R. Von Ehr II, widely respected as one of the world’s top nanotechnology industry leaders, in 1997. Zyvex Corporation is a highly renowned world-scale player in the nanotechnology community, the most publicized private nanotechnology business in the world, and the most highly regarded company in the field of molecular assemblers.

Gregory Magel, Ph. D., TIPRA

A technologist and inventor with experience ranging from research in photonics and MEMS in the central research laboratories of Fortune 500 companies, TI and Corning, to leading R&D at CodeStream, a Richardson-based optical networking startup. His technical consulting activities include advising two Texas nanotechnology companies, Zyvex and Nanospectra, as well as several photonics and MEMS companies nationwide. Dr. Magel recently co-founded TIPRA, a global intellectual property brokering service, with other experts based in Dallas and Munich. Dr. Magel is a Senior Member of the IEEE, and past chairman of the Photonics Division of the Optical Society of America. He holds a B.S. degree from Rice University, and the M.S. and Ph.D. from Stanford University, all in electrical engineering.

Conrad Masterson, Nanotechnology Foundation of Texas

Conrad Masterson is a "serial entrepreneur" currently living in Houston. He has been involved in six early-stage companies in Dallas and Houston where he has held executive positions ranging from general manager to CEO. In addition to his having served as the director of several companies, Mr. Masterson is a founder of the Houston Technology Center where he now serves on the advisory board. Mr. Masterson holds a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in both mathematics and physics, all from the University of Oklahoma.

Thomas Pitstick, Carbon Nanotechnologies, Inc.

Director of Business Development at Carbon Nanotechnologies, Inc., a company founded in 2000 by Nobel laureate Richard E. Smalley to commercialize carbon nanotubes (“Buckytubes”). In this role, Mr. Pitstick is responsible for developing new markets for carbon nanotubes including flat-panel displays, fuel cells, batteries, solar cells, capacitors, nanoelectronics, printable electronics, high-performance fibers, and polymer/ceramic/metal composites. Mr. Pitstick is also responsible for all business development activities in Asia as well as domestic government funding initiatives. Prior to CNI Mr. Pitstick held various engineering and management roles with Merck and Co., Philips Electronics and Escalate, Inc. (sold to GERS in 2004).
